In my first weeks in Pisay, I was a little bit insecure and unsure of myself. Am I really worthy to be here? Actually, I did not plan to study here. Not ever. I was practically forced to take the entrance exam. And then bam, I passed. Then stories about Philippine Science High School came. Some of the alumni I know said that here, my skills will be honed. Here, I will be prepared for stuff that is usually done in college, blah blah blah. But the most frequent thing that they told me though is that this school is challenging. Wow, that's normally not scary but, yeah. I got goosebumps.
As we went through the first weeks, I have come to realize that entering this school is not a joke. You have to wake up early, as early as five in the morning (or when you hear Lead Me, Lord from the Boys' Dormitory), and wait for Ma'am Alma to open the waters. You have to wait for your turn to use the shower cubicles. Also, bearing with the annoying voice of a lady (whether it's Try again, please, or if you're lucky, Verified!) from the fingerprint scanner in the cafeteria, and the somehow challenging lessons given by our duly-respected teachers that you have to endure.
During the afternoon, waiting for the G-Dorm to open is another story. It's either you loiter with some friends at the G-Wall, play footsal, volleyball, badminton, or the local Charge! with your schoolmates, and/or visit the library.
Now that I have spent almost three months in Pisay, I can say that the word 'challenging' is not scary. It is not scary at all. On the contrary, it's fun. In shorter terms, challenging is fun. Conclusion: Pisay is fun! Though ups and downs may occur and we may not get the best at all times, the thing is, the experience will be the best.
So, yeah. I'm currently enjoying Philippine Science High School - Bicol Region Campus. And I hope that I still will (though I'm pretty sure of it) for the whole duration of my six-year stay here.
